EVADE is the Eastern Virginia Association of Diabetes Educators.
Mission Statement: EVADE is a multidisciplinary organization
of health professionals dedicated to the professional development of
its members and to promoting and providing quality diabetes education
to individuals with pre-diabetes and diabetes.
EVADE is a chartered local chapter of the American Association
of Diabetes Educators. It is comprised of nurses, dietitians, and other
allied health professionals interested in diabetes. Many of our members
are Certified Diabetes Educators although this is not a membership requirement.
EVADE provides members with an opportunity to network with peers,
keep abreast of advances in treatment, technology, and issues impacting
on practice.
EVADE meets five times a year providing a dinner meeting through
generous support of our industry sponsors. Each meeting has a speaker
and topic planned in addition to the business session. Industry also
has the opportunity to set up displays and provide additional resources,
information, and materials.
EVADE provides an excellent resource for professional growth
and development. We offer workshops and/or CDE prep courses on a regular
basis.
EVADE is a resource for community programs in diabetes for the
professional as well as the lay person. We have been instrumental in
the participation of programs such as the Community Sharps Disposal
Program.
EVADE members are frequently speakers for other organizations
to assist in the education of our community in diabetes and other health
related topics.
EVADE members have been instrumental in increasing legislative
awareness for the patient with diabetes and assisting in obtaining improved
coverage for these patients at the state and national level.
